Turbine vadovas apie MMO socializaciją

Birželį MMO žanro žaidimų kūrėjas Turbine investavo 40 milijonų JAV dolerių, padėsiančių išeiti kompanijos žaidimams plačiau už PC ribų. Pasirodo, kad Dungeons & Dragons Online ir Lord of the Rings Online kūrėjai netik planuoja invaziją į Xbox 360 ir PlayStation 3 konsoles, bet ir turi kitų planų.
Šių planų kompanija iki šiol nekomentavo (išskyrus naujo Lord of the Rings Online papildymo, Mines of Moria, kuris išeis lapkričio 18 dieną, reklamavimą). Iki šiandien. Šiandien Turbine prezidentas, Jim Crowley, Tokyo Game Show parodoje paskaitė pranešimą apie tradicinių MMO žaidimų ir internetinių bendruomenių tinklo susijungimą.
Akivaizdu, kad daugeliui žaidėjų skirti, internetiniai žaidimai (kaip, pavyzdžiui, Lord of the Rings Online, World of Warcraft arba Warhammer: Age of Reckoning) yra ir taip socialūs, kur didžiuma veiklos veda į cooperaciją su draugais arba nepažįstamaisiais. Bet Jim Crowley tiki, kad MMO žaidimai turi ir toliau evoliucionuoti, kad talpintų savį tokių svetainių, kaip Facebook ar MySpace bendravimo ir asmens ekspesijos galimybes.
Pasak jo, to reikalauja netik dabartiniai žaidėjai. Sekanti žaidėjų karta – jauni vaikai, Crowley vadinami „gimusiais skaitmeniniame amžiuje“. Ateityje jiems bus įprasta, kad jų žaidimo ir bendravimo pasauliai bus susilieję į vieną. Įtraukiant tokius dalykus, kaip forumai, blog‘ai, draugų sąrašai, atnaujinimai, žaidėjų video, pasiekimai ir jų profiliai, ir kiti bendravimo malonumai ppatiks netik dabartiniams žanro fanams, bet ir pritrauks naujų.
Turbine kūrėjai gruodį žada įdiegti tokį paketą Lord of the Rings Online žaiidme, tačiau atskirai nuo papildymo, Mines of Moria. Tačiau įžvelgdamas daugelį tokio sprendimo privalumų, Turbine prezidentas netiki, kad ateityje MMO žaidėjų bendruomenės taps tokios plačios kaip, tarkim, MySpace.
